Deaths are outnumbering births among whites faster than expected.

Dean Rogelio Sáenz co-authored a report with colleague Kenneth M. Johnson of the University of New Hampshire. The report shares findings on the rate of deaths vs. birth among whites. According to the Analysis of National Center for Health Statistics data, deaths now outnumber births among white people in a majority of U.S. states. The list of states where white deaths outnumber births increased to now include North Carolina and Ohio. This demographic change has broad implications for the country's identity and its political and economic life. America is transforming from a mostly white baby boomer society into a multi-ethnic one.
